The 47 best places for drinks in Atlantic City (2024)

The Golden Nugget Atlantic City Hotel, Casino & Marina is a luxurious casino hotel located on the bayside in a relaxing marina setting. The property features modern quarters with some featuring views of the marina, as well as a spa and an outdoor pool. Nightlife features one of the hottest scene in the country with world-class shows and 24-hour gaming.

Pleasantly surprised. First time staying there, I usually stay at other properties. No complaints. Was less crowded than others on New Years weekend, which I like. Pretty clean. Very, very, very nice staff. I don't need much. Shower is a little weird, but who cares.

I have stayed at the Golden Nugget 5 times. I like the layout of the Casino, the hotel rooms are spacious, the restaurants are delicious and there is free parking for guests. I also love the pool area and bar. The staff is always helpful and welcoming. I took one star off because the last time I stayed at the hotel, I found a co*ckroach in my room. I believe it was brought in on the room service cart when we ordered breakfast, because there were no insects in the room before this. We alerted the manager and they removed the charge for one of the nights we stayed ($450). I'll continue returning the Golden Nugget because they really do try to make their guests happy.

The decor could use an overhaul and the room smelled a little musty but had a really great time in the hotel. Billy's burgers restaurant was fantastic! Vic &Anthony's was really really good- reserve a table earlier than you'd like to eat ..we had to wait almost 40 mins to be seated WITH a reservation. We had a really great time in the lounge. Overall we had a great stay but will most likely stay somewhere else next time we're in town. It wasn't bad, but I'd like to check another location to compare.

This hotel for sure needs a HUGE renovation.. the casino and just the hotel lobby/hallways smell musty and old as did the room. It felt like we were stuck in the 70s. The bed was comfortable, but all in all will definitely not be staying here again. It's a shame because AC used to be so nice and it the last 7-10 years it has gone down hill significantly.

Jessica T — Google review

My favorite place in AC. Fantastic restaurants, wonderful entertainment. Last few trips didn't get much sleep. People screaming in the hallways at all hours. Early morning alarm due to fire. Last night at 3am man banging on hotel room door near my room. "Donna open the door" Went on for about half an hour. I called security but got sent to a voicemail.. The hotel can't control the way their guests behave but I think security should have been available. Otherwise I adore this place and all of the employees there!

Linda R — Google review

I have mixed reactions with the golden nugget. The place overall seems dated, but our room was clean and spacious. The pool area looks newly renovated. As for location, having the marina there was interesting but we missed walking on the boardwalk. It was less expensive than most of the other hotels.

Paul K — Google review

I enjoyed my stay at the Golden Nugget. Check-in was easy and the representative couldn't have been nicer. The room was spacious and in good shape, though the metal soap and shampoo holder in the shower was rusted and needed replacing. Bed was great. Nice hot shower with good water pressure. Nice TV. The Golden Nugget has great restaurants including the Chart House and Vic and Anthony's. Nice outdoor pool as well. Great setting on the marina.

Matthew — Google review

Such a wonderful stay! The rooms were nice and neat. The room service was delicious and came quickly. All of the staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was laid back and casual. My now fiancé :) proposed at the Chart House on our last night and they truly made it a magical night for me. Thank you so much to everyone. We will most definitely be returning.

Golden Nugget was definitely my top worst hotel experience in Atlantic City! I have been visiting Atlantic City for over 20 years and will not recommend anyone to go to this hotel. I don't know where the high 5 star reviews are coming from.I am 6 months pregnant and the entire hotel SMELLS like polluted, smoky, and unclean air quality. My husband and I were very pissed off. We wanted to find a nice hotel to relax for the weekend. The air was so bad and very difficult to breathe, I wore a mask the entire time for the safety of me and unborn baby.Next issue was the front desk announcing that all TVs are down in the hotel. We had no functioning TV and rhe shower was very slippery.I don't desire to ever return or give this place a second chance in the future.

Ashley M — Google review

They didn’t tell us the place was under construction when we booked and our entire experience with this place was a nightmare. The parking lot is filled with signs letting you know that you can expect to come back to dust on your vehicle because of the construction. That’s how we found out. We went to check in and the front desk attendants were short with their responses & aren’t welcoming at all. We simply asked about the random additional $32 daily fee they now charge (they didn’t put that in the booking info either) and were met with a lot of attitude for absolutely no reason. I think if you’re going to wait until someone arrives to tell them about construction and extra charges you should definitely expect some questions and be a little nicer about answering. At this point we’ve already made the effort to book this place and drive here so we give it one last chance. We pass the signs apologizing for noise from the construction and go to our room. I’m not exactly sure what the right words are here but it smelled like a co*cktail made with expired milk and pickles. Don’t really know how else to describe how repugnant that scent was but it was definitely vomit worthy. Got locked in the bathroom for a solid few minutes because the door wouldn’t move so my sister had to help me push it open from the outside. The pillows had stains on them so it looked like housekeeping put the same bedding on instead of washing between stays. They gave us a wonderful view of the pool, which was closed, and there were chairs tossed everywhere. Nothing about this place is presentable or respectable. We checked in and checked out within the same hour with absolutely zero help from the hotel. We described the situation to our travel agent who explained the hotel was only willing to refund us one night although we had quite literally only booked for the weekend. I don’t know much about running a hotel but making people stay against their will is probably not the best business plan. The agency tried to speak to the hotel again on our behalf but they put us and the agency on a hold for 39 minutes. I promise you they’re not bustling with business at the Golden Nugget where they can’t answer for 39 full minutes. Clearly the priority is not the happiness or wellbeing of the customer here. Our agency felt bad and agreed to cover the rest to get us out of there before we passed out from how bad it smelled. As we walked out we took more notice to our surroundings. The carpets have that musty design that tells you that they don’t vacuum nor wash them and the design hides the dirt. Nobody that we could spot on our way in or out was under the age of 50. You cannot walk to the boardwalk from this hotel and virtually every store in the local area is barred up due to the high crime rate in that neighborhood. Not really sure how this place is advertised as a four star hotel when you’d have better service, hospitality, and cleanliness at a motel 6 probably.

My husband was attending a conference and it was being held in the hotel so we stayed here. My first impression was that it appeared worn. The lobby area has these huge red hanging light fixtures that were quite dusty and the carpeting is worn. Our room was also quite darkly furnished and even though the room was supposedly non-smoking, there was a smell of stale cigarettes in the air and what appeared to be cigarette burns on the carpet. The bed was hard and uncomfortable and the pillows were like rocks. The room was also quite warm and didn't get any cooler even though we put the A/C down to its lowest level. We waited hours for the temperature to go down and finally called engineering at 3am. They came up and adjusted, telling us that the temp is always set on economy and unless you request it they won't change it. They call it VIP temperature. By that time we were exhausted and woke up feeling sleep deprived. Not a good experience considering we paid $300 per night.

I have been to AC so many times and this past weekend was the very first time that I visited the Golden Nugget. What a fantastic casino and hotel! Very grand with an old school classy vibe that I will never forget. They have a fabulous lounge with a great DJ and it's FREE! EXCELLENT music, great people and such a wonderful vibe! Don't waste your money at Pool after Dark at Harrahs! Go the the Rush lounge at the Golden Nugget instead! Much better!

The rooms could use a deep cleaning rather than a quick clean up in-between stays. Check-in was fast and efficient! Employees were kind, smiling, and helpful. Breakfast omelet at the Cafe was exceptional as was the service. Casino floor was clean and beautifully laid out. And! The parking was FREE!! My hubby and I would stay here again.

Amy T — Google review

A pleasant surprise is in store for visitors of the Golden Nugget in A.C. The rooms are very nice and comfortable with plenty of space. My room overlooked the pool area. A lounging pool, a swimming pool and 4 jacuzzi tub's. Easy to navigate inside too. You don't have to walk a mile to get to where you're going. Loved it.

Dan B — Google review

Love going to The Deck. Live music, fun atmosphere, drinks are good and not over priced, and free parking in the garage.Once the music ends, the place empties quickly and security hurried us out of there. We were seated and finishing our drinks. Luckily we could just take the drinks with us to walk around.

I was looking forward to my stay at this hotel until I checked in. The customer service was terrible, I felt discriminated against by the receptionist once he looked at us (were both black). I was next in line, but he proceeded to help a white couple behind me instead, despite me telling him we were there first. I expected better treatment and respect but sadly I received the opposite. Mark was rude, racist, mean, and unfriendly, After this interaction, I needed a minute to calm down. As I moved to the side, I observed him engaging with a white person with complete professionalism. He was laughing, making jokes, and being friendly in contrast with me and my best friend. I feel so disappointed to have experienced something like that After Mark handed us our room key i suspect that Mark deliberately wrote our room number wrong so we would have to make multiple trips to the lobby it was such an inconvenience for us to have to travel multiple times on the elevator with heavy bags at 2am it made us regret our decision in choosing this hotel and we will never return to The Golden Nugget, especially after speaking to the manager. We voiced our concern to the manager and she was trying to assure us that Mark was not a racist. When asked how she knows, she responds “because that was her boyfriend”. After seeing our reaction, she mentioned it was just a joke (not a very funny one). Victoria seems like the kind of manager who stands up for him and lets him get away with treating people of color differently because their skin color. We thought that the room would compensate for this incident, but i was wrong. I started sneezing because my room was dusty i had to take Benadryl my whole stay, The sheets were torn, room service doesn't clean your room even if you ask for it, and some of the outlets didn't even work... total disaster... They also charge a resort fee of $30 a day and a tourist fee of $10 even on the day of your check out such a rip-off. If they want to keep tourists away, they succeeded. Do yourself the favor and stay away from this hotel.

I went to this location back in 2013 for my first year Anniversary and it was so beautiful, clean, and the service was amazing. I went twice after and it was the same as tge first time. I went back this year and unfortunately the room was not clean there was dust everywhere, the food was not nice like before, the service very nice and helpful as always. They need to work on the smell of the place as well, everywhere smelled like cigarettes, and musty. The view was amazing as always, and the spa was so calming and well needed for a day pass of $40 was worth it. Will I come back here again probably not.

We had an amazing weekend at the Golden Nugget and thank you to the bartenders and band over at the Rush Lounge. Good times and drinks plus the band was excellent. Our room was perfect and i did not want to leave. The staff are all so nice and we also had an A++++ time at Dos Caminos. They treated us like gold. Thank you again and we will be back.

I have been coming here since it was the Trump Marina. The nostalgia keeps me coming back. I like how it is next to the marina, inside the casino is a dark, chill atmosphere. I win a lot more at other casinos but come back to play a little bit, relax at the sportsbook, relax at the bars and grab a good burger at Bill's. I have stayed here a handful of times and the rooms are reasonably priced, very clean and upscale. The pool and view from the roof is definitely worth the stay.

Dan D — Google review

It’s definitely the place to be if you’re in your 50s. I was shocked to see all the older folks partying hard. Free parking was cool but it is a bit of a walk. Very dated and dark interior. You can smell a little bit of smoke but in certain areas. The front desk guy was cool. My room was ok. Very dusty and strands of hair were in the tub.

Jo — Google review

I mean one of the managers were a little extra. We weren't allowed to sit out in the back where the cars parked and we weren't able to sit across the street from the hotel because they are privateI mean it was the only nice Sunny day. Why the hell not? The room service was amazing. The food was delicious, the front desk are really sweet. I loved their shopping area and how close the casino was to the room.

Jayni A — Google review

Lost Over 18k in one night, was offered 250 in food credits after.any other casino would do way more. Horrible. Rooms are dated and stink. Overall just not a good place. Will not be coming back. Go to hardrock people. Comps are better, everything is better. This is for people betting 36 cent slots

Jerred S — Google review

Love golden nugget. Have a great host!! I heard rooms are getting makeover. They do kinda need it. Getting old. Pool is great on the roof top. I can’t believe they started charging for parking. 10$. I think of you spend 50 in casino it’s free. Or if you have a higher card then the basic.

Capturing a wedding at the Golden Nugget Casino was an extraordinary experience. The venue itself is a spectacle, providing a range of vibrant, interesting backdrops for photos. The staff was attentive and helpful, allowing me to focus on my work. This isn't your everyday wedding venue, and it made for some truly spectacular photographs. I highly recommend the Golden Nugget for anyone looking to add some pizzazz to their event.

Had the pleasure of staying at the Golden Nugget for a business conference and I have no complaints. The staff, hotel, and atmosphere provided safety, cleanliness, and great customer service. Victoria at the Front Desk was exceptional and provided top notch customer service throughout my entire stay. Valet, security, and housekeeping were all top notch! Great people working at this establishment.

Bella F — Google review

We had a nice night at the Nugget. We ate at Vic and Anthony's and it was great. Staff and general manager were friendly and attentive. The casino was clean and festive. They had a real nice parking system where it scanned your license plate and you paid by app. $10 to park when we went.

There was no food Available on Thursday evening. Front desk wasn't accommodating because outside food had to be met outside on a sidewalk instead of Devon telling me that it was DEFINITELY going to be at the front desk. Nobody helped me eat with my blood sugar extremely low. The front desk Manager had no control over this issue and told me to go to the "convenience store" there WAS NO FOOD FOR A DIABETIC. Not one person at the front desk helped me, except Dvon and he tried. I was very polite and I had a hard time. I'm not an old person and I have a video of this interaction. It was wrong in soo many ways

Good variety of machines. Loved that they had a ticket machine near the casino exit/entrance area (didn't have to go looking for a ticket machine to cash out). Good number of servers coming by taking drink orders. The air ventilation is ok. Parking is posted $10, but they have times when it's free (guessing not the weekends or busy times). Waited about 15 minutes before going to the cashier desk to ask for them to send someone to open the machine to get the ticket out.

I don't know why this place gets a bad wrap. The casino is very nice. Not too overcrowded. Great places to eat and service is top notch. Shout-out to Micki at Bar 46 and James at Dos Camino. The rooms are very nice. We'll definitely be back.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel during our trip to Atlantic City. The casinos were a great time other than a few rude employees, but the room was out dated and the furniture appeared to be chewed on by a dog. The entertainment center doors were hanging low from hinges. For a non smoking floor, the room had a horrible odor of cigarettes but it is a casino hotel so we weren’t shocked. There was construction going on and at 7am there were loud banging and booms in our room.

Breanna L — Google review

I can not speak of the hotel since I did not stay there but I can comment on the casino. First, everyone we spoke to was super friendly and helpful. My wife and I had a good time playing the games. It was overly crowded or loud. I will tell you that it was a little smokier than some of the other casinos and it isn't as bright and shiny as some of the others in the area. It is somewhat nostalgic and reminds me of how casinos used to be. It felt like more of a locals place. I would definitely visit the casino again.

Jon D — Google review

It was nice. It was clean. Chart House was excellent, Vic & Anthony's was excellent. I enjoyed my time on the casino floor. I just think there should be more food options available late at night that won't drain my pocket if room service isn't going to be available a duration of the week & all the other eateries don't open for business til Thursday. Why wasn't that burger spot open at least? Bean & Bread should be cranking out coffee & sandwiches til at least 2am. My only true gripe; we had a group of people next to us in a room with small noisy children & older children who were left in charge to watch the small children & it was just complete & utter chaos & noise non-stop for 3 hours. The hotel staff were helpful in addressing this matter & after another call to the front desk with a third disturbance complaint, they accommodated us & found us a new room. I was aggravated more with the adults who brought the kids but naturally the staff recieved the brunt of my aggravation when I felt they weren't doing enough to resolve the problem. My apologies, in the end, they resolved the issue and we were grateful. I wish people exercised better casino etiquette in that regard. Your small children & teens under 18 have no place & do not belong at a hotel casino. Find childcare. Aside from eating at the restaurants, which most weren't open because of the off season, there's no need for them be there. They can't gamble or drink alcohol. It's an adult space, leave them home, find childcare or don't come. As for Golden Nugget, we'll be back, eventually.

If you like the excitement of going to Atlantic City but don't want to be over near the boardwalk this is a great place for you. The rooms are well maintained. They have a great bands that play at the bar. The pool is incredible, the only downside is it's only open in the summer. Not really a hotel with kids as there is nothing To keep them entertained.

We would like to extent our most heartfelt and sincere thank you to the entire team at Golden Nugget for a fantastic wedding on October 15, 2023.From our initial meeting with Stephanie and Amber, to Toni, Rose, Jim, the entire kitchen, and food service department, and even casino floor, we could not have been more pleased with the level of commitment, engagement, dedication, and follow-ups – that led us all the way to a flawless ceremony and reception!Every question(s), request, or inquiry we had was greeted with “yes we can”, “let us arrange that for you”, and - especially important being 500 miles away in Raleigh, North Carolina – “do not worry about this or that, we’ll take care of it”, and indeed it was! Everyone commented on how outstanding all the food, deserts, and service were (and with the majority of my French family in attendance, that is not a small feat!), how great the rooms, lighting, and venue(s) looked. Even the co*cktail hour with signature drink and outstanding spread of meats and cheeses was a resounding success!Thank You for an unforgettable time, outstanding staff dedication, and genuine devotion, across the board, to taking care of your guests – however big or small the occasion!!!Photos by Alex Kaplan Photo

I would rate this hotel 5 stars across the board. The rooms aren’t perfect but the service is outstanding. We were checked in by a gentleman by the name of Jamal and I appreciated how patient, kind and knowledgeable he was. He provided excellent service and should be recognized for his hard work. I should also acknowledge the rest of the staff who took really good care of us. I would stay here again.

Locked in our own bathroom for over 40 minutes due to a faulty door (and apparently it's happened a lot). Had to scream for help. Finally someone came after 40 minutes of banging the door naked and screaming. The best part? Tried to stay another night because instead of going to bed after our shower, we decided to stay one more day and give the place a chance after being given a different room (and that's it). We were told it would be $300+ that, the previous night would've been around $90 (and when proven incorrect with receipts for $200+ previous night rate + a $100 security deposit for the room), he basically called us a liar and rescinded his previous comments.Good luck, can't wait to tell the world about this.
