PHIL, EMERGENCY RESPONDERS TELLING US A TORNADO TOUCHED DOWN ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE CITY IN ROCK COUNTY, CAUSING, AS YOU CAN SEE HERE, CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE. DODGE. AND THAT WEATHER CAUSING CHAOS ON WISCONSIN’S EPIC CONCERT NIGHT. THE LUDACRIS SHOW EVACUATED AT THE TACOS AND TEQUILA FESTIVAL AT THE ROCK IN FRANKLIN. AND AS THAT WAS HAPPENING ALL CONCERTS AT SUMMERFEST CAME TO A SUDDEN HALT. THIS VIDEO FROM THE BMO STAGE AT ABOUT 9:00. BUT WE’VE JUST GOTTEN WORD THE SHOWS WILL INDEED GO ON. FESTIVAL GOERS BEING TOLD THEY CAN NOW RETURN TO THEIR SEATS. AND TO OUR WEST, A SERIES OF TORNADO WARNINGS IN KENOSHA, WALWORTH. AND HERE THIS IS IN WATERTOWN, IN JEFFERSON COUNTY. EARLIER TONIGHT, YOU CAN SEE THE DARK SKIES AND LOW HANGING CLOUDS. IT HAS BEEN A BUSY NIGHT FOR US HERE AT 12 NEWS. WE START WITH METEOROLOGIST MOLLY BERNARD. YOU WERE WITH LINDSEY SLATER. SO THE SEVERE THREAT IS GONE FOR THE REST OF THE EVENING. I KNOW IT WAS AN ACTIVE FEW HOURS. I DO THINK THERE WERE A HANDFUL OF TORNADOES THAT TOUCHED DOWN ACROSS THE STATE OF WISCONSIN. NO MORE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM TORNADO WARNINGS OR WATCHES IN OUR VIEWING AREA. FOR EVEN BETTER THAN THAT, A LOT OF THE RAIN IS NOW MOVING OUT OF SOUTHEASTERN WISCONSIN. THIS IS RADAR. IT’S A LOOP OVER THE LAST THREE HOURS, AS THOSE SEVERE STORMS WERE ROLLING INTO SOUTHEASTERN WISCONSIN, WE SAW TORNADO WARNINGS AND DODGE AND JEFFERSON COUNTY DOWN IN WALWORTH, AS WELL AS KENOSHA COUNTIES. NOW, AT THE VERY TAIL END OF THIS LOOP, ALL OF THAT IS MOVING OUT. STILL SOME SHOWERS LEFT AROUND OUR SOUTHERN COUNTIES. WE MAY GET A LITTLE BIT OF LIGHT RAIN, BUT MUCH BETTER SITUATION AT SUMMERFEST NOW THAN IT WAS JUST AN HOUR OR SO AGO. 74 DEGREES. SO IT’S STILL PRETTY MILD. IT’S DRY. A reported tornado on the south side of Janesville caused "considerable damage to structures and infrastructure," according to a city statement. As of 11 p.m., no injuries were reported, and the Rock County Sheriff’s Office said that damage assessments would be completed in the morning.Power outages were also reported across the area. As of 10 p.m., more than eight thousand customers were affected. The most impacted counties were Walworth, Jefferson, Milwaukee, Waukesha, Dane, Racine, and Kenosha. Severe weather also wreaked havoc on several major entertainment events, forcing the cancellation of the Tacos & Tequila Festival in Franklin, where Ludacris was the headliner, and the postponement of the Dave Matthews Band concert at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy.Any reports of confirmed tornadoes will most likely be announced in the coming days by the National Weather Service, which conducts in-person surveys and assessments conducted by meteorologists and damage assessment teams from the NWS.
