A series of controversies. Randall Emmett has produced successful films, including The Irishman, but it’s his personal life and allegations of professional misconduct that have often made headlines.
“I thank God and my dad daily that I never married him. The thought of it sends me into a panic,” Lala Kent, who dated the film producer from 2016 to 2021, said of her former beau on a December 2021 episode of the “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast. Kent has often spoken publicly about her ex since the split, including on her own podcast, “Give Them Lala.”
“Every day I find out something new that makes me feel [like], ‘Lala you were so disposable the whole time. You meant nothing. … You were a possession, a shiny object and nothing more.’ And I have to be OK with that,” the Vanderpump Rules star said in a December 2021 episode. “To learn the things that I learn and try my best to just keep my f–king mouth shut for my daughter, not say a word about what I know, it can become torturous. And I have to sit and say, ‘The universe will do its thing.’”
The reality television personality and the Silence producer got engaged in September 2018 and welcomed their daughter, Ocean, in March 2021. That October, the pair split after Emmett was photographed with two other women at a hotel in Nashville. Kent has since accused her ex-fiancé of cheating on her with multiple women, which he has never confirmed.
“Randall did not want to split but it was Lala’s decision. The trust is gone. He’s been trying to win her back,” an insider exclusively revealed to Us Weekly at the time of the breakup. “He’s constantly posting about Ocean in hopes of getting Lala’s attention and putting on the ‘I’m a good father’ act.”
The Utah native has never shown any inclination of taking Emmett back. In a December 2021 episode of her podcast, she claimed that the Midnight in the Switchgrass director lied about how much her engagement ring was worth.
“It just was like, ‘Wow, there’s not one piece of the five years I was with this person that has been truthful and honest,’” she said at the time.
The podcaster made headlines in June 2022 when she alleged that Emmett knew about his collaborator Bruce Willis’ health struggles long before his aphasia diagnosis was announced to the public.

“‘I can’t do this anymore,’” the Give Them Lala author recalled the movie producer telling her over the phone in September 2020, per a Los Angeles Times report. “‘It’s just so sad. Bruce can’t remember any of his lines. He doesn’t know where he is.’”
Emmett denied Kent’s allegations. The June 2022 Los Angeles Times exposé also included allegations of sexual misconduct perpetrated by the End of Watch producer, which he likewise denied.

Marriage
Emmett married actress Ambyr Childers in 2009. The former couple share two daughters: London, born in 2010, and Rylee, born in 2013.

Divorce
The Boss Level producer filed for divorce in April 2015 but dismissed the petition the following year. Childers then filed for divorce in January 2017 and the duo finalized their split that December.
During a January 2022 appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Kent expressed her admiration for Emmett’s ex-wife. “I think she is a great woman and a great mom. I will be honest, I think she is the best thing that ever happened to that guy,” the reality television star said.

Relationship With Lala Kent
Kent and Emmett began dating in 2016 and got engaged in September 2018. “He’s my best friend. He takes care of my heart and my soul,” the Vanderpump Rules star told Cosmopolitan of the Survive the Night producer in 2018.
The duo was set to exchange vows in April 2020 but had to postpone the nuptials due to COVID-19. They split in October 2021, after welcoming their daughter Ocean that March.

Cheating Allegations
Following their split, Kent claimed that Emmett had cheated on her numerous times. In June 2022, the Bravo personality claimed that her ex-fiancé “tackled” her when she tried to grab his phone after confronting him about his alleged infidelity.
“He ran after me, tackled me and knocked me to the ground,” Kent told the Los Angeles Times. “I used every ounce of strength to get him off of me as he was trying to pry it [Emmett’s phone] from my hands.”
The Hard Kill producer’s rep, Sallie Hofmeister, denied the allegations. “These allegations are false and part of a now-familiar smear campaign orchestrated by Randall’s ex-fiancée to sway their custody dispute,” she told the Los Angeles Times. “Lala Kent has lied and manipulated others in her desperate attempt to win full custody of her daughter, keep her name in the press, and remain relevant in reality television.”

Directorial Debut
The producer’s first foray into directing culminated in the June 2021 premiere of Midnight in the Switchgrass, a crime thriller starring Willis and Megan Fox. Emmett talked to Bleeding Cool in July 2021 about how directing differs from producing.
“I think the new part of it for me was having to be present every day, having to be in the moment, and not being able to multitask and do seven other movies at the same time. I had to just be there on this one film, but at the same time, that's creatively what I needed badly in my life. That is the perk of a director being creatively involved in every aspect of the film,” he told the outlet.

Allegations of Mistreating Bruce Willis
In the Los Angeles Times exposé, Kent claimed that Emmett was aware of Willis’ health issues before his family publicly announced his aphasia diagnosis in March 2022. According to Kent, the Hot Seat producer told her that the Die Hard star was unaware of his surroundings as early as November 2020 but continued working with him on several subsequent films.
In a statement to the Los Angeles Times, Emmett denied he was aware of “any decline in Mr. Willis’ health.”

Allegations of Abuse and Fraud
The Los Angeles Times exposé includes several allegations of sexual misconduct on Emmett's part. One aspiring actress claimed that she would “have to perform sexual favors” to get acting work from the producer.
According to the report, Emmett and his company, Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films, are currently facing several lawsuits claiming misrepresentation and civil fraud occurred in business transactions.
Emmett has denied all claims presented in the report.

Restraining Order
Childers filed a restraining order against her ex-husband in October 2022, claiming she was emotionally and verbally abused during their marriage, but a judge denied the request due to supposed lack of evidence.
The Gangster Squad actress alleged that she discovered "threatening" messages exchanged between Emmett and his lawyer, which prompted her to seek the temporary order. "When will you get some real money together so we can take this c--t out once and for all. This is not good for your girls," the lawyer reportedly wrote in an email to Emmett, who replied, "I don’t have real money for this and you know it."
According to the Los Angeles Times, Childers asserted in her filing that she was uncomfortable with the exchange. The Ray Donovan alum also claimed her ex "would put his hand around my neck and tell me that I could never get away from him" before their split and alleged she found a tracking device under her car in January 2017, several months before the duo's divorce was settled. She claimed Emmett informed her that his lawyer suggested hiring a private investigator, who was allegedly responsible for placing the device. (Neither Emmett nor his lawyer immediately responded when the filing made headlines.)

The Assistant's Lawsuit
In November 2022, Emmett's former assistant Martin G'Blae filed a lawsuit claiming that he'd been fired in late 2020 because of racial discrimination. In court documents obtained by Us, G'Blae alleged that he'd been asked to pay drug dealers and prostitutes for Emmett in addition to more typical assistant duties.
Emmett, for his part, denied the allegations in a statement via his lawyer Suann MacIsaac. “The allegations being made are beyond fictitious,” the attorney told Us at the time. “Mr. G’Blae is a disgruntled former employee who was fired for cause. During the last year he has tried to get thousands of dollars from Mr. Emmett for supposed unpaid expenses that he cannot substantiate. Mr. G’Blae will most definitely be held accountable for his actions in a courtroom.”

A 3rd Engagement?
During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Kent claimed Emmett was engaged to the woman he had an affair with when she was pregnant with Ocean. “You’ll find out soon … they’re engaged, they’ve been engaged for a while,” she claimed, joking that his new woman “probably” got a fake ring as she did.

A Documentary About His Controversies
In May 2023, Hulu announced a documentary titled The Randall Scandal: Love, Loathing, and Vanderpump. The film will explore allegations against Emmett including race discrimination, workplace abuse and his behavior on set toward Bruce Willis amid the actor's declining health.
Emmet broke his silence on news of the doc later that month, alleging that the Los Angeles Times’ exposé about him was “highly biased and factually inaccurate.” He also claied that one of the piece’s writers Amy Kaufman had a “personal vendetta” against him and was allegedly friends with Kent.
His statement to Page Six continued: “Among other things, the article contained fictitious and greatly exaggerated stories made up by a few former disgruntled employees who had been dismissed. Lala was also a participant in this fiasco, likely because I have been fighting for 50/50 joint legal custody of our child.”
The L.A. Times, for their part, stood by their reporting in a statement to Us. “Two veteran entertainment journalists, Amy Kaufman and Meg James, reviewed hundreds of court filings and Emmett’s internal company records and interviewed three dozen former associates in the course of an investigation that published last year,” the outlet stated. “If Emmett would like to dispute any of the facts in our reporting or the information that Kaufman and James share in the documentary, we welcome him to do so.”

A Bravo IOU
Pump Rules alum Brittany Cartwright alleged that Emmett owed her husband, Jax Taylor, over $70,000. “You lent Randall money? Let me guess. You were gonna ‘produce’ a film,” Andy Cohen quipped on a March 2023 episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. Though the couple didn’t go into detail about the IOU, Cartwirght stated, “[Jax] wants his money back.”
