Camera Shyness? Nah, It’s Just Pre-Fame Jitters! Alright, LinkedIn fam, let’s get real. Remember the first time you had to speak on camera? Yeah, it’s like being asked to wrestle a bear while wearing a tutu. Not exactly the highlight of your week, right?" My First Time " So there I was, staring at this cold, unfeeling lens. My voice? Shaking like a Chihuahua in a snowstorm. My face? A canvas of awkwardness. If I had a dollar for every “uhm” and “uh” I squeezed in, I’d be on a yacht right now." The Epiphany " One day, I decided to watch my own video. Big mistake. It was like watching a slow-motion train wreck. But then, a light bulb went off. If I could survive watching myself, I could survive anything. Time to level up." Training Montage " Cue the Rocky theme song. I started with baby steps—talking to my mirror, recording short clips, and critiquing myself harder than Simon Cowell. The goal? To stop looking like a deer in headlights and more like a champ ready to conquer."Embrace the Awkward"Here’s the kicker—people love the awkward, the raw, the real. So, I embraced it. Shared my bloopers, laughed at my flubs, and guess what? Folks loved it. Turns out, being human is kinda cool." Victory Dance " Fast forward to now, and I’m not just comfortable on camera; I’m owning it. The secret sauce? A mix of practice, humor, and a hefty dose of not taking myself too seriously. And a lot of coffee. Like, a LOT.Bonus - To all you future camera kings and queens: Start small, laugh at yourself, and remember—it’s just a camera, not a dragon. Unless you’re vlogging in medieval times, then maybe it’s both.Stay legendary, folks. And next time you hit that record button, give the camera a wink. Today, I came across this Instagram thread by Jeffrey Sun which laid out the lessons he has learned in the first half of 2024. After reading his post, I experienced a strange sense of comfort, which was much needed. I shared the post on my story because I felt like my friends might also need to hear those, and here I'm writing this post to share those 8 lessons for you all to read as well, in Jeffrey's own words:1. Once you feel ready, it's often too late. 𝒀𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒄𝒂𝒑𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌.2. A new start can happen anytime. 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇.3. You don't need more knowledge. 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒍𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒚 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒐.4. Meeting the right people makes you love yourself more. 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎.5. It's absurd to ask for speed or perfection 𝒐𝒏 𝒂 𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒉 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒏'𝒕 𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆.6. You can only cook what's in the fridge. 𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒅 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒌𝒔, 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔.7. Never trust an indoor thought. 𝑰 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒖𝒏 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒅.8. The answer you're looking for 𝒊𝒔 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒇𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒓𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈.Do go check out the post on Instagram, as his cinematography skills are brilliant. I'll now go and reflect on how my last six months have been. Thank you all for reading. I hope some of these thoughts resonated with you as well, and I wish the next 6 months of 2024 nurture more of such wisdom and growth for all of us, both as people and professionals. https://lnkd.in/gYPif3YF#PersonalGrowth #SelfReflection #LifeLessons

Repurposed this beautiful video of Mel Robbins "Want more love?" (link in comments) into this short-form clip ✂️, for my portfolio :)Platforms it can be posted on: Facebook reels, Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube shorts, and Linkedin.📝Notes:1. The red catchy title of the video grabs the attention of the viewer and the circled ''love'' triggers the attention mechanism in our brain from our school days.2. The quote at the end enhances the message and acts as a cherry on the cake 🍰🔨Tools used: Inshot, Descript and Da Vinci resolve#melrobbins #love #contentrepurposing

“It all makes sense now!”My son was studying the picture strip in his comic book this morning when he discovered the back story of how Spider-Man came to be. “He was bitten by a radioactive spider, it all makes sense!”“That’s what gave him his superpowers.”We might not all identify as Spider-Man, but we all have a backstory that has shaped the way we show up in the moment. It might be something that happened 5 minutes ago, 5 days ago, or 50 years ago.…a comment from a stranger …an argument with a loved one…something a friend once said to you in the school playgroundThey all influence how we act, how we respond to a situation, what we feel able to share. They create the context that we live and work in.And yet, we often don’t acknowledge that they are there.Being able to share just a little bit of your own context with someone else makes all the difference. It helps both you and them make sense of what’s happening.Letting them know that you didn’t sleep well last night, or that you’re worried about a sick relative, or you’re feeling distracted wondering how your child are settling into school. And then it opens up the space for someone else to do the same. Sharing context is a key ingredient for building connection in any relationship. From connection comes the sense of belonging and acceptance. And these are things we all crave more of. Now…..back to Spider-Man. If you were a superhero who would you be and why?!🕷️Photo credit: Nik via Unsplash #connectionmatters #diversityequityinclusion #community

Here’s a breakdown of each look from 3 different projects.Let’s start at the very top. This one was a short film on Black Lives Matter. Shot on Sony FX6. It was important to bring out our hero and make her the center of attention. One of our main skin-focused tools from QAZI’S TOOLKIT was used to dial in the exposure and saturation. The original image lacked color separation and depth, as seen in the last slide. 👉🏼The background was more brown than green, so I used another tool from QT to create targeted split toning. The middle image is from another short sci-fi psychological thriller. Shot on Red Gemini. She’s losing her mind. It was important to use muted tones to take the life out of the image while still playing with split toning to keep it beautiful and interesting. With the help of some of the best BALANCE assist tools in QT it was a breeze to keep the whites at a certain hue. It looks clean but has a hint of cooler tones that helps the narrative. It was important not to beautify our subject since she’s sleep-deprived. This is a completely opposite approach to the last example. No two projects will be the same and it is important to realize that and keep evolving.Last shot is from@zouhairbahaouilatest music video. Shot on Sony FX3. t’s a love letter to Morocco. It’s vibrant and poppy because I wanted the environment to dictate the grade.Lots of warmth was added in the midtones while keeping the highlights relatively clean. Undertones were pushed toward blueish/ magenta just a touch to create color separation. All of this would’ve taken along time if it were for QAZI’S TOOLKIT.#colorgrading#colorist#davinciresolve#sonyfx6#sonyfx3#redgemini#learnfilmmaking#filmmakersworld#filmmkrs#colorsocietyhttps://lnkd.in/gmCex-vx

Since late April, I've been following the messy K-pop feud between ADOR, the record label behind K-pop darlings NewJeans, and Hybe, its parent company. So when I was asked by Yahoo Entertainment to write a big-picture piece highlighting why both parties are feuding, how this could impact NewJeans' future and what will happen next, I had to take on the challenge. After translating dozens of Korean media articles and tracking all the back-and-forth, I came to the conclusion that the battle is really very simple: It's all about money, power and control. Here's my explainer on what you need to know about ADOR vs. Hybe and why you should be (a tad) concerned for NewJeans.
